The teams available to join are:

NON FICTION:
– Commissioning, editing, fact-checking, and sometimes writing the non-fiction articles, including investigations, that will be published by The Isis.
– Developing pitched pieces and edit submissions, bringing them up to a publishable standard.
– No editing experience is required, just a good eye for non-fiction writing and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills are desired as you will have to work one-on-one with writers, as well as in a more collaborative environment with team members.

FICTION:
– Commissioning, editing, and sometimes writing the fiction pieces that will be published by The Isis.
Develop pitched pieces and edit submissions, bringing them up to a publishable standard.
– Our fiction team can receive experimental submissions or pitches which don’t always fit the categories of prose or poetry. We welcome applicants with a passion for innovative writing.
– No editing experience is required – just an eye for fiction, poetry, and anything in between.
Strong communication skills are desired as you will have to work one-on-one with writers, as well as in a more collaborative environment with team members.

INVESTIGATIONS:
– Writing and editing investigative articles within a collaborative team setting. You may be conducting independent research and interviews to research your investigation topic.
– We welcome anyone interested in investigative journalism. Prior experience is useful but by no means necessary. Every investigation is different and we always welcome new and dynamic ideas.
– This role offers you a high degree of autonomy to take an in-depth look at an area of your interest as well as develop your collaborative and editorial skills.
– Your investigation may be published in the magazine or on the website.

CREATIVE and MEDIA:
– The creative team is responsible for The Isis’s creative vision. We are looking for a range of graphic designers, artists, filmmakers, editors, photographers, and photojournalists. In short,­­­ anyone with creative skills and an eye for aesthetic design.
– Creative team members are responsible for making work that adheres to these guidelines for magazine spreads, and social media graphics, but for online content this is more flexible and you can follow your individual artistic styles.
– You may also pitch your own work to be printed as a standalone in the magazine.
– Creative Directors are responsible for creating a style guide for the magazine which will extend to the social media brand for the term. This includes coming up with a colour scheme, brand typography, and general design guidelines.
– This is a really rewarding role and a great opportunity to express yourself on a huge platform. We want to facilitate your growth as an artist with creative team round tables and weekly meetings.
– Photoshop (or equivalent) and InDesign experience is preferred but not mandatory. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills with these platforms on the team, so don’t worry if you haven’t had the opportunity to use them before!

MARKETING and EVENTS:
– Managing our events term card and the finances of the publication. This may include, sourcing partnerships/advertisers and sponsors, coming up with ideas for merchandise, as well as organising and marketing a range of exciting events.
– Managing The Isis’s Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter pages and coming up with performance indicators and growth. This is important as much of our events advertising is conducted via social media.
This role suits anyone with good communication skills and the ability to see an events project through from beginning to end.
– Directors will be expected to communicate with the Creative Directors with requests and ideas for social media graphics when needed.
– We welcome applications from anyone with an interest in business or marketing, and who will be proficient in raising money for the magazine. Innovative thinking on how to raise money for the publication is welcomed.
– The role is excellent for experience in publishing, and can be a step towards working for OSPL.
