neglect

by Jack Cooper | November 28, 2015

he was devoted to specific portions of myself
something new – a desirable object
awake and behaving
taught to maintain central fixation on one other
i was rewarded by a drop, by superficial layers
for the intimate coupling, where I am a sensory experience
centrally placed in his attention
reaching, scanning, probing

after, I receive subtle delays
almost automatically
he moves beyond reach
and I fade into relative neglect

I had become skewed
exclusively concerned with his directed attention
in a state of hunger

after extensive processing
it reaches his mouth that he is
no longer exclusively concerned with me
I broke in orderly succession
no verbal responses required
our pivotal connections
lesioned
